About Me
Zetetic
I’ve been playing EVE on and off since I first created my account in the fall of 2005. At first, I stumbled around and joined a small corporation with a bunch of other new players. We didn’t really know what we were doing, and I ultimately lost interest.
I came back three years later and joined up with Eve University. I had a much better time, and tried a little bit of everything – mining, mission running, trading. I also got my first taste of fleet combat. I was hooked.
After another long hiatus, the Dominion promo video sucked me back in. I joined up with a 0.0 corporation – The Graduates.
I’m by no means an EVE expert. There are lots of parts of EVE that are still inscrutable to me. But I love learning about it, and through my character I hope you can follow along.

I’m a long-time multiplayer game devotee, and have played pretty much every multiplayer game I could get my hands on. In High School, I was super into Myth and Myth 2, which provided my first taste of high level competition, collaboration, and community. Since then I’ve dabbled in MMOs like World of Warcraft, strategy games like Dawn of War II, and action games like League of Legends, Left 4 Dead, and Team Fortress 2. My main interest has always been in the social side of things – competition, teamwork, logistics, and planning, and how designers influence those structures.
During the day, I’m a grad student at the MIT Media Lab. I study computer mediated communication systems, particularly those where people interact synchronously. If you’re curious about that sort of thing, you can read more at my portfolio. Games and game mechanics indirectly inspire a lot of my work, although I rarely work on games directly.
